Creating Consistent Experience Is Key to BYOD, Especially for Unified Communication

What is limiting BYOD from full adoption really comes down to a lacking single user experience. Right now it is still difficult for someone to go from a standard voice call on their mobile to a video conference using their unified communcations platform.

The idea of BYOD is exciting and with more and more companies opening their doors to consumer supplied technology in their organizations, it is only going to continue to pick up steam.

According to CIO the average business traveler is carrying 3 mobile devices and furthermore there is some growing consensus that desk phones may disappear altogether in just a couple of years.

What is limiting BYOD from full adoption really comes down to a lacking single user experience. Right now it is still difficult for someone to go from a standard voice call on their mobile to a video conference using their unified communcations platform.

More thought and design needs to go into the mobile unified communications application selected so that users can select how they want to be contacted and to make sure that they can indeed move between communication channels without disruption regardless of the device.

This comes down to intelligent planning, solution selection and integration.
